winemaker's notes: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot The winemaking regions north of Bordeaux, on the Left Bank of the Gironde, make up the Médoc appellation, with the northern part of the peninsula producing the majority of the Médoc AOC wines. The majority of plantings are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Cabernet Sauvignon grows particularly well in Médoc's famous gravel soil, equipped with an excellent drainage system through a myriad of very small streams. Deep clay soils between the gravel terraces are ideal for Merlot plantings. Flanked by the Atlantic Ocean and the Gironde River, the vines benefit from a temperate climate. The resulting grapes typically show a structured and rich body with red and black berry flavors. Christian Moueix knows classic Bordeaux intimately and how to make exceptional wines. His wines are true to the expected high quality regional characteristics, while charting new territory in Bordeaux affordability. Ready to drink now, the wines are also capable of further bottle aging
